Inspired by the desire to create a modern bohemian aesthetic to mirror the laid back vibe of Hawaii, this team of vendors came together and created something pretty spectacular. Glorious Moments Photography captured the entire thing masterfully, bringing to life a carefully planned tropical destination wedding.
It’s no surprise that Hawaii boasts a number of gorgeous indigenous flowers, so I was so happy to see every detail bursting with an abundance of various flowers and greenery to honor the lush vivaciousness of Maui’s natural rainforests and wildlife. My absolute FAVORITE flower trend of the year is hands down… the King Protea. It’s like Mother Nature’s statement piece, and more brides are choosing to design their centerpieces and bouquets around this mammoth flower. Playing supporting roles were Mink Protea, Ginger and various tropical foliage – the folks at Maui Palm Tree Floral created this symphony of feminine vivaciousness that I adore in tropical weddings. And of course, they had to give it the ol’ razzle dazzle with a hint of sparkle and rose gold in the floral and pineapple themed tablescapes.
The flower theme didn’t stop there – the cake made by Cake Fanatics had a huge orchid design and was wrapped with greenery. This pretty little cake was small in size, but had a big personality – just like this entire wedding design, and the state of Hawaii itself!
Q&A with the Photographer
What was your design inspiration for this destination vow renewal?
The beach was my inspiration. So I came to ‘Exclusive Island Weddings’ and we came up with something boho, modern, and tropical. Something that highlights Hawaiian Island nature. From its flowers, local vendors, and historical art gallery.
Tell us about the flowers.
To highlight their nature, we want to promote tropical flowers such as king PROTEA, Mink Protea, Ginger, and tropical foliage. The design is also very lush to explain and give the people a little taste of the lush of Maui.
What was your inspiration for the cake?
We wanted it to be a simple and intimate gathering for the bride and groom. So our cake is smaller in size, yet big on design. The design includes tropical leave and orchid with a white background.
How did you choose the attire?
FUN. Two different outfits for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony we wanted to highlight the cape that also can be used as a veil. So beautifully designed by Kojo Couture! The second dress is something less formal, more fun. You would want to dress in this tulle dress because it will make you look like a beautiful flower.
Tell us about your tablescape elements.
ROSEGOLD. YAY. Under the tree. The tablescape again, wants to highlight the nature of Hawaii, so each table setting has a mini pineapple on it. And big tropical foliage under the menu. Something organic, modern, and very Hawaii.
