Omni Resort at Championsgate Destination Wedding Site Visit

by Sol Spier

I was recently invited to the Omni Resort at Championsgate, to check out everything they have to offer for destination weddings.  The resort just underwent a $40 million dollar expansion, including their new Grand Salon, which was specifically designed for destination weddings, so I couldn’t wait to see it in person.  And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

As soon as I got off the highway and turned into Championsgate, the roads were lined with palm trees, perfectly manicured gardens, and bright flowers.   Everything is perfectly placed and polished – the attention to detail is just astounding. I wish the photos I took would do it justice!!  It didn’t even feel like I was in Orlando.  This could definitely be a resort in some tropical country; minus the beaches.

Disclosure: Thanks to Omni Resort at Championsgate, who paid for the author’s trip in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect the views of any company or organization.

Doesn’t this look like a fairytale? No, this wasn’t a wedding… just a regular old Thursday evening at the Omni!

There is truly something for everyone here.   They have two world-class golf courses, an 850-foot lazy river with waterfalls and waterspouts, the only wave pool in Florida, separate adults-only and family-friendly pools and slides, private pool cabins, a luxurious European-style spa, a 24-hour fitness center, basketball courts, 18-hole miniature golf and lighted 9-hole par 3, multiple dining options, and an endless list of daily activities that cater to all age groups.

I could spend a whole month here without ever wanting to leave… but if you still need more, Disney, Universal, and all the theme parks are just a short ride away from the resort. There are also dozens of restaurants and shopping options, and a huge Publix supermarket within a mile of the resort.

Whether you’re having a small, intimate wedding, or plan to invite all of your friends and family, this resort will keep everyone entertained and happy. They have 850 rooms and the newly opened Sunset Lodge features 93 spacious, upscale guest rooms that can be configured into two, three, or up to 23 four-bedroom connecting units for families or friends who want to bunk up together.

This was the view from my bedroom… Just imagine you & your boo sippin’ on some bubbly from your balcony on the top floor of the resort, overlooking this gorgeous sunset!

This resort exceeded my expectations with great attention to detail, friendly staff, and tons of amenities!

Destination Wedding Venues at Omni Championsgate

So now that I have your attention, let me fill you in on the different options you’ll have if you plan your destination wedding at the Omni Championsgate! I was lucky enough to receive a personal tour with Lindsey, the resort’s own food and beverage coordinator. She showed me all of their wedding venues and ballrooms. And let me just tell you, they are all GORGEOUS!

Ceremony Venues

There are several outdoor ceremony venues at Omni Championsgate, each with their own charm. Whether you’re having a small, intimate ceremony, or you invited hundreds of guests, there’s a perfect location for you.  Each one can be decorated to create the aesthetic of your dreams, but honestly, they’re so gorgeous on their own that you could just as well keep it simple!

The Garden is the perfect ceremony venue for an intimate wedding. The wrought iron wedding gazebo creates a very enchanting setting, and can be dressed up any way you’d like! This venue seats up to 70 people.

Golf Course Commons is a gorgeous location that offers stunning golf course views. It seats up to 150 people, yet the area still feels intimate as it is separate from the main hotel areas. The area can also serve as a cocktail hour reception location!

Ballroom Commons is another breathtaking ceremony location (I think it’s my favorite!) It seats up to 500 people, and has the most gorgeous Tuscan backdrop! The venue is also perfect for your cocktail hour reception.

Grand Salon and Terrace has a gorgeous area surrounding it that is perfect for your ceremony. And the best part – it’s just a few steps from your reception location!

These are all outdoor venues, but every wedding package comes with a backup indoor location. Rain or shine – you’re covered!

Reception Venues

St. Andrews – intimate with beautiful views, it has a private outdoor patio with gorgeous views of the resort’s lush grounds. This location is perfect for a small wedding party – it can host up to 65 people.

International & National Ballrooms – what I love about these ballrooms is how versatile they are. Each of them can be divided – so whether you have 100 guests or 1,600 guests, the ballroom can be customized to meet your needs! This also means that if there’s anything special you want to add to your reception, the team can absolutely make space for it! Another thing I love about these ballrooms is that they each have pre-function space which may be used for your cocktail reception.

This is a photo of a real wedding.  Doesn’t it look like it’s straight out of the movie Beauty and the Beast!

Championsgate Ballroom – this ballroom has the most spectacular views AND a private outdoor balcony. It holds up to 140 people.

Grand Salon and Terrace – last, but not least… the Grand Salon and Terrace! Oh my goodness, guys.   This brand-spankin’ new venue is simply one of the most beautiful ballrooms I’ve ever seen. As soon as I walked in I was just completely amazed. From the sparkly chandelier to the incredible amount of natural light and gorgeous views, to the event patio and grand lawn… it’s stunning!  This ballroom even features a new porté cochere for private arrivals, a charming terrace with a fireplace, and a promenade.

The amount of outdoor space it has makes it such a versatile and sizable venue. It’s also quite separated from the main resort area, so it will feel like you have the space all to yourself. Plus, you can have your ceremony right beside your reception location (because who wants to walk too far in heels?!)  Seriously… I saw this ballroom on a normal day – it wasn’t set up for a wedding or anything special and I was blown away.

They even have gorgeous bridal suites with the perfect full-length mirror, and lots of other mirrors to ensure you’re able to see yourself from every angle before you walk down the aisle.

Omni Championsgate Resort offers several different wedding packages – and yes, they are customizable! Each package includes a wedding day coordinator that will be there to ensure that everything runs as planned, and turns out perfectly.

I could go on… but you really need to see this space for yourself so I highly recommend that you do a site visit.

Disclosure: Although the media trip highlighted in this post was sponsored by Omni Resort, all opinions and experiences are the author’s own.
