Today’s featured Idea is Wedding Destination Themes. I love the idea of incorporating a bit of your destination’s culture into your wedding décor or entertainment. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or over the top, but just a very small detail tied to your destination is all it takes to make your big day unforgettable. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Destination Wedding in Mexico
Tying the knot in Mexico? There are a multitude of ways to add some of their rich culture to your wedding. Here are just some ideas…
Fire Dancers
Ancient Aztecs used to perform a fire dance dedicated to the god of fire, and today it is commonly performed for tourists in Mexico. But nobody will expect it at your wedding and it will blow your guests away.
Mariachi Band
Even if you’re already hiring a DJ or traditional band for your wedding, you can hire a mariachi band to play a few songs during the cocktail hour or dinner.
Tequila Bar
When in Rome, do as the Romans. And when in Mexico, drink Tequila! At my destination wedding, I set up a tequila bar topped with an authentic Mexican serape blanket, a variety of different tequilas, lime wedges, chili powder and salt. It was a huge hit!
Destination Wedding in the Caribbean
Salsa Dancers
Bring a little bit of dancing with the stars flavor to your big day. Hire some professional salsa dancers and have them perform for your guests. You fill find some of the most amazing salsa dancers in Puerto Rico & Cuba who will knock your guest’s socks off.

A Nod to History
When this bride got married in Cuba, she ditched the idea of a limo and chose instead to arrive at church in a classic Chevy, capturing the old world charm and character of Old Havana.
Food/Drinks
How about serving your guests some rum cake or stuffing their welcome bags with the native coffee or curry seasoning? Or perhaps you serve their drink in a coconut shell. I know I for one, would be ecstatic.
Steel Drum Band
Picture a beach wedding at sunset on the beautiful shores of Trinidad & Tobago and a steel drum band playing in the background as your guests sip on cocktails and celebrate your new union? Got goosies? Me too. Now go hire one!
Obviously, there are tons and tons of additional ways to let your wedding destination’s culture influence your theme. These were just a few to get you started. Do you have any others you can think of? Send me your ideas and I’ll add them to the list!
Splendid wedding themes mate! Mariachi Band theme is unique for me as never have I imagined the groom to be dressed as Antonio Banderas and delivering a swagger like that!
That Mexican theme was the best, followed by the fire dancer theme that will surely blow everyone away. Sharing this post for my other mates for inspiration.
Cheers!
