Photos of the Best Destination Wedding of the Year!

I know, I know… I think EVERY destination wedding is the best – but this time I have proof! Destify ran a contest to find the BEST Destination Wedding – and after weeding through hundreds of applications and whittling the list down to 10 finalists, fans of destination weddings all over, cast their votes and crowned Hannah and Edwin the winners! Aside from bragging rights, this lucky couple was awarded their choice of $3,000 cash or an over-water bungalow getaway! Not too shabby!

So, what about their story and destination wedding made it so deserving of the grand prize? Well first off, these two met under uniquely adorable circumstances. They became friends after Edwin adopted a dog that Hannah had been fostering. Edwin regularly checked in with Hannah, sending her updates on how the dog was doing, even sharing pictures of his first ice cream cone. Be still my heart! How could she possibly resist?! A few months later, they were dating.

After welcoming a son two years later, Edwin popped the question by attaching a new tag to the dog’s collar that simply said, “will you marry daddy?” while carrying a ring and their adorable son, Rowan.

With a story like that, you need a fun and unique wedding – so they jetted off to Cancun with their closest friends and family to host an unforgettable destination wedding complete with sun, sand, lots of gorgeous details, and of course, cake flavored shots in lieu of a traditional wedding cake, because this is Cancun we’re talking about!

A festive trio of musicians kicked-off the cocktail party before dinner and dancing at the grand palapa of Finest Resort Playa Mujeres, which served as the perfect venue for a beach party with an ocean view. The décor was just as vibrant as the party, with gorgeous colorful bouquets, pineapple centerpieces, and floral arrangements galore. Savanah Loftus Photography did an amazing job capturing some beautiful family candid moments between Hannah, Edwin, and Rowan, as well as preserving the memories they and their guests shared throughout the night.
