Whytecliff Park is rustic, romantic and darn photogenic – the perfect setting for this ethereal (and borderline magical) sunset and twilight wedding photo inspiration. My favorite part of the entire design was the purposeful “unpolished” look about the entire set-up. Set so close to nature, the shoot benefitted from a series of decisions by each vendor, made to accentuate the gorgeous natural beauty surrounding the couple. From the mismatched silver and gold lighting to the naturally arranged flowers and wooden details, this shoot perfectly captured the subtle serenity of an oceanfront, pebble beach soiree.
The featured colors of this shoot are gray, blue, gold and silver. The gold represents the sunset, while the silver represents the sparkling, dimming light during twilight. Blue is for the ocean and gray for all the pebbles and rocks that are around at Whytecliff park. The vendors created unique looks for their products based upon this pallet. The gray, blue and silver you see among the décor and apparel are a reflection of their natural surroundings; the pebble beach itself, the deep blue of the water and the ever-changing deep colors of the sky at dusk. Golden accents are to represent the gorgeous sunset, a fleeting beauty seen by those present for this flawless shoot by Jelger & Tanja Photography.
The bride’s bouquet is a rugged natural green and white floral arrangement wrapped in a deep ocean blue colored ribbon. I love how it so perfectly represents the vibe of the photo shoot as a whole. The bride is wearing a gorgeous white dress by Truvelle Bridal that pops as she stands (looking effortless) along the banks of the deep blue ocean surrounded by the natural, lush green forest.
And hold up… you didn’t think I’d leave out that bomb a$$ cake, did you? The folks at The Cake & The Giraffe weren’t playing around – even when the sun goes down, their masterpiece was always going to stay lit. The cake artist created this cake with little twinkling lights to create a unique ambiance while the sun set into twilight. The entire aesthetic of this shoot was tied together by this cake – because as the daylight dwindled, the lights on the cake illuminated more and more… proving that beauty is transformative and stays with us, day and night.
The bride is wearing a flowy truvelle dress. It’s simple, yet elegant and timeless. Our hair and makeup artist opted for dark brown smokey eyes and a touch of peach on the cheeks. Together with the front braid and messy bun, this created a timeless look. The groom wears a navy blue suit with a lighter blue pocket square.
The bouquet contains a variety of flowers and greens, to give it an untamed look. The special White Holland peonies create a feeling of luxury. The groom’s boutonniere contained small white roses and lamb’s ear, which ties in with the same flowers in the bouquet.
The couple enjoyed this gorgeous sunset together. After the sunset, everything was set up for the perfect twilight dinner. The blue hour after sunset adds a deeply romantic feel to the setting.
Jennifer, from JG Events arranged the wooden chiavari chairs, to add a natural feel to the table setup. For dinnerware, she used gold band plates on silver charger plates and wedgewood blue napkins. As often happens at the oceanfront, there was a soft breeze, so we chose for LED candles that were in mismatched stands with an unpolished look. The menus, which contained tasty seafood dishes, stayed in place thanks to the cute pebbles from the beach.
The cake table had a wedgewood blue table cloth, and was lit by candles in beautiful antique lanterns. We love how as it gets darker, the lights show more, but this cake also looks stunning in regular daylight. It was designed by hand and each light placed at a specific spot in the fondant.
