Today we are featuring a soft and elegant styled shoot to inspire elopement couples who dream of a light, airy, vintage look on their big day. Every detail was captured perfectly by the lens of the talented Christina Leskovar.
Big props to Wedding Planner Kate, of Valley & Oaks Events who helped to make this elopement vision a reality. With her expertise in combining the aesthetics of vintage rentals, bridal gowns, decor & design layout, she created the most romantic setting inside the location’s venue and on the private beach.
Every single detail designed & executed by the vendors in this lake-styled elopement shoot came together flawlessly. Like the bride’s barrette which echoes the floral lace in her gorgeous gown. And the floral arrangements found everywhere from the arch on the beach to the tables, chairs, and bouquets. Specifically, I’m completely taken by the addition of dusty sky blue-gray to this color palate. Sometimes the inclusion of aqua or blue at a waterfront wedding can feel a little too “on the nose,” to me… but this team of vendors – everyone in charge of everything from flowers, to stationary, to cake to decor – found the perfect marriage of pale tones that complimented this dreamy ethereal vibe perfectly.
Q&A with the Photographer
What was your design inspiration?
A dreamy color palette with minimalistic details made up this romantic lake-styled elopement shoot. It provides relaxed and elegant inspiration for couples wanting a more intimate wedding experience. Photographer Christina of Christina Leskovar Photography envisioned the soft and elegant combination of details featured in this shoot to pair with her light and airy style of imagery. Wedding Planner, Kate, of Valley & Oaks Events helped to make this elopement vision a reality. With her creative mind and expertise in combining the aesthetics of vintage rentals, bridal gowns, decor & design layout, she created the most romantic setting both inside the location’s venue and outside on the private beach.
Describe your flowers.
The florals used throughout this shoot tied each portion of the decor & details together effortlessly! Blissful Blossoms Design created a large garden-style arrangement for the table centerpiece, which sat inside an antique white hobnail Fenton glass compote. Blossoms of white peonies, bridal akito, vendela, and quicksand roses highlighted the bouquet. White stock, light pink and white spray roses, blue delphinium, light green hellebores, blue limonium, white astilbe, and sterling range heather complemented it, while foliages of dusty miller, Italian ruscus, bridal wreath, and weigela provided the backdrop for this airy and feminine floral display.
The base of the beach arbor was decorated beautifully with foliages of dusty miller, Italian ruscus, willow eucalyptus, weigela, bridal wreath and ferns. All this rested inside a large piece of Lake Michigan driftwood, which perfectly tied the lakeside theme together with the same indoor textures of the farmhouse chairs & the driftwood detail used behind them.
Describe your cake.
The pastel blue and white, two-tiered, fondant-covered cake was made by KMB Confections. This vanilla bean cake was frosted with vanilla buttercream icing and showcased the most delicate hand-piped lace on the bottom tier. The intricate detailing on the bottom tier featured brush embroidery peonies, roses, and wildflowers. A thin grey ribbon accented the top tier and was embellished with pink spray roses, white astilbe, white bouvardia, and blue limonium by Blissful Blossoms Design.
Tell us about your attire choices.
Spring Sweet provided the best bridal attire for this elopement-styled shoot, beginning with the Heaton gown by Wtoo, perfect for the modern romantic bride. The skirt on this dress is made of soft tulle layers, without being too full. It features lovely off the shoulder tulle straps, and corset boning detail. A subtle dip completes the back of the dress. The design of this dress is dreamy and slightly vintage-inspired, but also up to date and modern. The Ferrah Belt from A.B. Ellie is a subtle bridal belt. Instead of rhinestones, it’s covered in delicate white beads creating a subtle feather detail.
The Skylar Jumpsuit by Theia was the perfect second outfit for a lakeside elopement. Easy to wear, it’s covered in beautifully detailed white lace. It’s both effortless and breezy. The Floral Comb used in the bride’s hair from Mint Lola is made up of white metal rosebud detail flowers, with just a few rhinestones in the center of the flowers creating a slight sparkle.
Please describe the details of the stationery
Jessica of JesSmith Designs created an assortment of calligraphy pieces for this shoot, including a full elopement-styled stationery suite. The suite featured a frosty, sea glass look for the invitation itself, and she played up the natural elements by using handmade paper, dyed to emphasize the soft, nautical color scheme of the shoot. Grey wax seals featured a marbled wax, adding a touch of elegance to the overall suite. More of the same soft hues were tied into the sand dollar place cards for the dinner table which also featured calligraphy on custom silk handmade ribbon.
The large “Art of Marriage” fabric that draped front and center on the dining table featured sentimental words hand-written in calligraphy. “His” and “hers” vow books were made with handmade blue-gray paper, custom calligraphy and bound in silk ribbon.
Describe the tablescape elements.
The Rental Company provided the farmhouse chairs, dining table, white linen table cover, dusty blue table runner, blush pink napkins, silver-beaded chargers, silverware, and a gorgeous, soft blue dessert table. Gigi & LaClede provided the stunning shimmery pearl, antique glasses for both the dining and dessert tables, antique white salad plates, cherry-colored floral dinner plates, and an elegant clear and silver cake tray.
