Wow! Just… wow. I’m rarely speechless (longtime DWD readers know that!) but I’m struggling to find the words to describe just how special Ashlee and Michael’s wedding was! These two hosted their closest friends and family for a relaxing getaway in the Bahamas – and while the photos speak for themselves, I can’t help but to share a few thoughts!
These two are avid, and I mean AVID travelers who’ve both visited quite a few uniquely beautiful destinations. They even have their own travel blogs: Michael’s Points with Q and Ashlee’s Cobalt Chronicles. So when they chose this gorgeous seaside location at Baha Mar in Bahamas to host the most meaningful day of their lives, you know it’s something special! Everything from the views (crystal blue water anyone?), to the luxurious venue itself, the amazing food, decor and more… this wedding checks all the boxes for what a dream destination wedding looks like.
The ceremony itself was stunning, simple and relaxed. Ashlee and Michael said “I do” in the sand under a pretty altar adorned with flowing white drapery and beautiful white and green bouquets. Their guests then joined them for an adorable garden-party reception at sunset. The talented folks at Mason Photography did a great job of capturing each moment. Some of my favorite shots are the ones that perfectly capture the couple’s sweet, candid moments. Best of luck, and congratulations to the happy couple!
Q&A with the Bride
What was the best part of having a destination wedding?
The best part was having an extended amount of time to spend with our family and friends. Most of our guests arrived the Wednesday or Thursday before our Saturday wedding. Since we were all staying at the same resort, we were able to spend quality time with all of our guests who made the trip to celebrate with us.
What was the biggest challenge when planning your destination wedding?
I’m pretty laid back in general, so there weren’t too many challenges to planning our destination wedding. I would say the hardest part was narrowing down our guest list as we wanted to keep it intimate since we were inviting all of our guests to three different parties – the Welcome Party, Rehearsal Dinner, and Wedding Ceremony/Reception.
