It is so refreshing to see couples personalize their wedding with meaningful details that truly represent who they are as a couple. And as you’re about to see in today’s featured wedding, Christine and Kevin absolutely nailed that concept. Christine is finishing her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and Kevin is training to be a Surgeon; so with the help of their wedding planner, they paid tribute to their professions with a medical-themed destination wedding in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Their guest first got a taste of the theme when they received a unique patient folder invitation in the mail. The welcome bags were in the form of a survival kit which included treats and a hangover kit. During cocktail hour, guests were greeted with fun signature drinks titled “Double Vision,” complete with a spectacle swizzle stick.
As they entered the reception, each guest got their table assignments from small patient files which were displayed in a custom-built shelf that was backlit with a chest X-ray and engagement photos. The party favors were mini champagne bottles with a “prescription” (aka a mimosa recipe). And the lab coat cakes? They look almost too adorable to eat! A huge shout out goes to Luminaire Foto for capturing every single detail of this unique wedding and sharing it with us! Enjoy!
Q&A with the Bride:
How did you meet?
I was in Miami for undergrad and Kevin was there for medical school. We locked eyes on the dance floor of this huge club called Liv in The Fontainebleau. We always talk about how lucky we are for meeting that night. I feel like we were just drawn to each other. We danced all night and that was that.
Tell us a little a bit about your destination wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).
My husband is in training to become an ophthalmic plastic surgeon and I am almost finished with my masters in physician assistant studies. Our careers kind of consume our lives, so it just made sense to incorporate a medical theme into the wedding.
What were your favorite parts of the wedding day?
Our ceremony. I think it was 12 minutes long. It was short, sweet, informal and Kevin and I were laughing for most of it. I also loved walking into the reception hall for the first time for our first dance. Also, everyone who gave speeches did an incredible job: so sweet and thoughtful while also hilarious and entertaining.
Tell us about your wedding cakes
The talented Kakes by Karen created a beautiful, traditional wedding cake, plus two very detailed doctor-coat cakes.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their destination weddings now?
Get a wedding planner. Hiring Carrie Darling was the best decision I made for the wedding.
What was the best part of having a destination wedding?
Carrie and I went back and forth over MANY emails on trying to make my dream vision come to life and seeing it all come together was incredible.

I LOVE the circle stage they created! What a wonderful idea to feel “engulfed” in family and friends. So special!
