Turquoise and Pink Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya

by DWD Team

Have I mentioned lately that I love turquoise and pink….because I looove turquoise and pink!  I think it’s one of the most stunning and eye popping color combinations that you can use for a destination wedding.  So when I first saw Amanda and Dave’s wedding photos, it was love at first sight.  But when I read their love story, I couldn’t help but smile.  You see- this couple was bound by fate.  They grew up in the same city but they didn’t meet until they were both visiting their grandmothers in Portugal for the summer.   They constantly broke curfew to spend time together.  And years later they rounded up 80 of their closest friends and family and headed to the Riviera Maya to exchange vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony.

The more I looked through this wedding album, the more I could not stop smiling.   Amanda and Dave look like such a fun couple and a little part of me wished I was a guest at this wedding – ok, a big part of me:)

A huge thanks goes out to the amazing team at Jess Collins Photography for capturing all the details and fun moments of this destination wedding in Riviera Maya.

Real Destination Wedding Advice from the Bride

Why did you choose to have your destination wedding in Riviera Maya?

We chose the Grand Palladium Kantenah in the Riviera Maya because of the breathtaking chapel the resort offered. Our ceremony was held at the Nuestra Senora de las Nieves chapel.  It was a more of a traditional destination wedding with a Catholic service.  We had our reception at a covered private space overlooking the pools at the resort.

What was the best part of having a destination wedding?

Just being able to celebrate our wedding in a tropical paradise for a week was amazing.  Not having to worry about the little things that you have to worry about if you were back at home.  Knowing everyone would get back home safely since it was just a 5 minute walk to your room, was nice as well.

What’s your advice to other brides planning a destination wedding?

Don’t let the little things stress you out!  If you are working with a coordinator, you’re in good hands. They do this for a living.  Let them do what they do best and relax.   Also if it’s possible take an extra-long vacation.  Stay a couple days after your guests leave to relax and enjoy each other.  That would probably be the only thing I would change about my destination wedding.
