Beachy meets laid-back elegance in today’s wedding! Jordan and James knew they wanted “a destination wedding in Mexico that felt like a vacation and party all in one,”. So they left it up to their planner to select the ideal venue and work out all of the details. And the result is a carefree yet completely stunning event.
The couple treated their guests to an incredible week of festivities at their resort in Cancun, including a day out on a catamaran to snorkel, paddleboard, and even take a tour around Isla Mujeres.
When it came time for their big day, they said “I do” under a lush, tropical palm frond arch in the venue’s modern gazebo. Dusty aqua blue table linens at the reception looked gorgeous against the venue’s ocean backdrop. And peachy pink roses were the perfect dash of color on each table.
Effortlessly gorgeous, Jordan and James’ wedding looks like an absolute blast in these photos by Norina Kaye Photography!
Q&A with the Bride and Groom
How did you meet?
Through a mutual friend at their wedding. Years later we crossed paths again and here we are.
What is your proposal story?
We had just finished a Fitness class and just got home. And I was starving so I was on my couch stuffing my face with Chipotle when he walks up to my sweaty self and gets on one knee and asked me to marry him. We had a vacation planned to Maui and he was going to do it there, but he was too excited to wait a few weeks.
What was most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We wanted our guest to feel like it was a big vacation party the entire time. We splurged on an excursion on a catamaran boat for the day and went on the ocean. All of us snorkeled, swam in the ocean, went paddle boarding and stopped at Isla Mujeres to tour around before we went on the boat back to our resort in Cancun.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Our wedding reception was a blast! Everyone; and I mean everyone was out on the dance floor dancing the night away. Not one person was in their chair watching.
What did you do for favors?
Every one of my guests got a beach bag when they arrived. Inside the bag had stuff you would need on a beach vacation. We included a waterproof phone case, sunscreen, aloe vera, chapstick, sunglasses, Tylenol, tums, etc.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
A destination wedding is the way to go!!! Find a close small group of 30 people or so and travel for a destination wedding/vacation/party. You have time to enjoy every single one of your guests’ company. Having a big wedding of 100+ people, you can’t even say hi to all your guests.
What was the best part of having a destination wedding?
Getting to go on vacation with our closest family and friends!
